A Slam Dunk for Inspiring the Next Generation of Women in Sports<\/h2>\n

More than 600 high school students filled the university’s Sports Science and Athletic Pavilion for Girls Got Game 2025, celebrating National Girls & Women in Sports Day. With 28 schools represented, young female athletes had the opportunity to hear from inspiring women making their mark in sports.<\/p>\n

Co-hosted by the University of La Verne and the Foothill Citrus Athletic Directors Association (FCADA), a network of high school athletic directors, the event united student-athletes, coaches, and industry leaders, creating a strong sense of community and mentorship. This collaboration highlighted the shared commitment to empowering the next generation of female athletes, ensuring they have the resources, inspiration, and opportunities to excel in sports and beyond.<\/p>\n

The atmosphere was charged as Dr. Grace Apiafi, a 1998 Nigerian Olympian, shared her inspiring journey from record-breaking athlete to devoted mentor. Kim Bly, a pioneering NCAA official, captivated the crowd with stories of breaking barriers in football and basketball. Danielle Garcia, Director of Corporate Partnership Activation for the Anaheim Ducks, demonstrated leadership beyond the field, while Kelsi Quarles, a two-time volleyball All-American turned legal associate, spoke to the power of discipline and determination.<\/p>\n

With engaging Q&A sessions, campus tours, and networking opportunities, the day was filled with empowerment and inspiration. Girls Got Game 2025 wasn\u2019t just about sports\u2014it was about reminding the next generation that they belong in every arena, on and off the field.<\/p>\n
