<\/a><\/p>\nLed by Amy Jiang, University of La Verne Professor and Head of Emerging Technology Digital Initiatives at the Wilson Library, the program began with a week-long in-person session followed by four weeks of virtual classes. The event aimed to celebrate the students’ achievements and showcase their work, but also to foster meaningful connections between young scholars and seasoned professionals in the tech sector.<\/p>\n
In addition to the student presentations, the Leo Tech Mixer featured alumni and panelists working in the tech industry. They offered insights and advice to the next generation of innovators. About 35 guests attended the event.<\/p>\n

“We believe that talent is universal, but opportunities are not always equally distributed,” said Jiang. “This program aimed to bridge that gap by providing high school students, including international participants from China, with the resources and mentorship needed to excel in their academic pursuits.”<\/p>\n
The Future Scholars Research Program is a pilot initiative for the university, involving approximately 15 highly motivated students, including participants from China, who are eager to gain research experience and connect with higher education opportunities.<\/p>\n
“The mixer provided a unique opportunity for students to interact directly with alumni and tech industry professionals, gaining valuable advice and inspiration for their future careers,” added Jiang.<\/p>\n
