Professor of Political Science Dr. Jason Neidleman is set to be a guest lecturer at Ghent University in Belgium this April.<\/p>\n

The lecture will be on English translations of Jean-Jacques Rousseau’s works and will be given through the University’s Centre for the Study of Text and Print Culture. Neidleman’s review essay, “Three Translations of Rousseau’s Political Writing” was posted to academia.edu and is not yet in print.<\/p>\n

Neidleman will discuss how Rousseau’s works are reflections of their social, political and ideological context. Rousseau was a Genevan philosopher, writer and composer of the 18th century.<\/p>\n

“It is an honor to be asked to speak at a prestigious institution such as Ghent University and the Center for the Study of Text and Print Culture,” Neidleman said. “It is important to participate in the community of scholars, both for my own professional development and for the reputation of the University [of La Verne].”<\/p>\n

After posting his work to academia.edu Neidleman received an invitation to speak at Ghent University from Sandro Jung and Thomas Spittael.<\/p>\n

Additional scholars who work on Rousseau, the Enlightenment and Translation studies including Nathalie Ferrand, Nicholas E. Cronk, Martin Rueff and Fran\u00e7ois Jacob, will also be attending the event.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
