Organizational Management, BS

Bachelor of Science in Organizational Management

As the famed football coach Vince Lombardi said, “leaders are made, they are not born.” Our organizational management program prepares students for positions of leadership in any field or industry. Through the use of hands-on learning projects, students apply what they learn in the classroom to enhance their skills in communication, management, leadership, and ethical decision making so that they can successfully lead teams in the workplace.

While studying foundational and advanced concepts in organizational behavior, students will learn from dedicated faculty and have access to state-of-the-art facilities, career advising, and numerous professional development opportunities all designed to prepare them for a wide range of careers.

Careers in Organizational Management

A degree in organizational management can open many career paths. Possible career pathways include:

  • community services manager
  • health services manager
  • information technology manager
  • human resources manager
  • sales/marketing manager

Course Highlights

The Bachelor of Science in Organizational Management provides students with a comprehensive education of organizations. Classes are offered online, hybrid, and in-person at the La Verne Campus and several of our regional campuses. The degree can also be completed fully online.

The first part of the program consists of core courses that establish a foundation of management, leadership, culture, financial budgets, ethics, and organizational behavior. Core coursework also includes an opportunity for undergraduate research.

The second part of the program consists of a wide range of electives from a variety of disciplines, which gives students the utmost flexibility in customizing their curriculum to suit their interests or career goals. Students also have an option to pursue a concentration in human resources management.

The college also offers minors in business administration, business management, economics, or marketing to allow students to customize their education to support their interests.

At the University of La Verne, our academic programs are led by professors who are experts in their fields. Our small class sizes lead to a more engaging classroom experience and a low student-to-faculty ratio allows faculty more time to get to know students and advise them on educational and career goals.

Bachelor’s and Master’s Combination Program

The Management 4+1 program allows eligible undergraduate students to complete a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Management and Master of Science in Leadership and Management in just five years. Students will follow an educational plan that they develop with a personal academic advisor to complete undergraduate coursework during the first three years. After the third year, qualified students may apply to begin taking graduate-level courses.

Outside the Classroom

Organizational management students have many opportunities outside the classroom to network and learn more about their chosen field. These opportunities include organizations like Enactus, which implements entrepreneurial projects that empower communities; Delta Sigma Pi, a national business fraternity; and students clubs and organizations focusing on accounting, economics, marketing, finance, management, and more.

Beyond La Verne

Career advising is available to students and recent graduates through the college’s O’Brien Career Center. The center provides guidance for students and recent graduates in search of meaningful and rewarding careers by providing advising and career preparation resources.

Our graduates have launched careers in various roles of management and leadership. They work at organizations such as:

  • Bank of America
  • Amazon
  • Northrop Grumman
