Victim Advocates are here for you whether or not you choose to report. The choice is yours.<\/p>\n<div class=\"collapsible-content-wrapper\">\n<h2 class=\"collapsible-header\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"collapsible-content-1763081129376\">Support Measures<\/h2>\n<div id=\"collapsible-content-1763081129376\" class=\"collapsible-content\">\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Counseling &amp; Victim Advocacy:<\/strong> Free &amp; confidential support is available through Project Sister Family Services <a href=\"https:\/\/www.projectsister.org\/\">Sexual Assault Hotline<\/a> or through <a href=\"https:\/\/laverne.edu\/counseling\/\">ULV CAPS<\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong>Digital Safety:<\/strong> Guidance on privacy, social media, and protecting online information. Visit for more information: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dhs.gov\/blue-campaign\/online-safety\">Digital Safety<\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong>Boundaries:<\/strong> Limit contact with the abuser or unsafe individuals<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"collapsible-content-wrapper\">\n<h2 class=\"collapsible-header\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"collapsible-content-1763081172915\">Reporting Measures<\/h2>\n<div id=\"collapsible-content-1763081172915\" class=\"collapsible-content\">\n<h3>Sexual Assault Victim Advocates:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>If you decide to report to Title IX, Campus Safety or Law Enforcement, a sexual assault Victim Advocate can accompany you or give more information. Victim Advocates are confidential, trained professionals who provide support, guidance, navigate reporting processes and provide access to resources. Communications with sexual assault Victim Advocates are protected under California Law (California Evidence Code 1035.4 and CA Penal Code 679.04), meaning what you share with them stays private and confidential.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Legal Protection:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Campus No Contact Order:<\/strong> Title IX can help with &#8220;No Contact&#8221; orders on campus. Contact <a href=\"https:\/\/laverne.edu\/title-ix\/\">Title IX<\/a> office for more details.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Community Restraining Orders:<\/strong> A Sexual Assault Victim Advocate can help you file a restraining order. For more information, visit: <a href=\"https:\/\/selfhelp.courts.ca.gov\/restraining-orders\">Restraining Order <\/a>or contact <a href=\"https:\/\/www.projectsister.org\/\">Project Sister Family Services.<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"collapsible-content-wrapper expanded\">\n<h2 class=\"collapsible-header\" aria-expanded=\"true\" aria-controls=\"collapsible-content-1763753755491\">SART Examinations<\/h2>\n<div id=\"collapsible-content-1763753755491\" class=\"collapsible-content\">\n<div id=\"collapsible-content-1763753645901\" class=\"collapsible-content\">\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">If you or someone you know experiences any form of sexual assault, evidence can help support future investigations or prosecutions. Evidence can be collected through a Sexual Assault Forensic Exam (SAFE\/SART) or preserved in other ways.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sexual Assault Forensic Exam (SART\/SAFE EXAM)<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Can be done within 120 hours (5 days) after an assault.<\/li>\n<li>Emergency contraception can be provided within 72 hours (3 days) after an assault.<\/li>\n<li>These are performed by specialized nurses to collect DNA and other forensic evidence.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\">-Types of Exams:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li><strong>VAWA Exam<\/strong>: Does not require your immediate police involvement. Contact <a href=\"https:\/\/www.projectsister.org\/\">Project Sister Family Services<\/a> <strong>hotline for more information.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Evidentiary Exam:<\/strong> Immediate police involvement. Collected evidence may be used for criminal prosecution.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Police Involvement <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>File a police report.<\/li>\n<li>Law Enforcement may schedule a SART exam with a forensic nurse.<\/li>\n<li>Law Enforcement may arrange transportation and emotional support from a Victim Advocate.<\/li>\n<li>You can also request a Victim Advocate even if police do not automatically call one.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 style=\"font-weight: 400\">IMPORTANT:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>DO NOT attempt at home kits, they are not recommended.<\/li>\n<li>DO NOT go to a hospital for a SART exam without contacting a Victim Advocate or law enforcement first.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">For more information you can visit: <a href=\"https:\/\/rainn.org\/2240\/getting-a-sexual-assault-forensic-exam-safe\/\">RAINN<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"ulv-gray-box\">\n<h3 style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span><strong>Self-Care &amp; Healing:<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Healing after harm isn\u2019t one-size-fits all. Some days feel harder than others and that\u2019s okay. Small steps matter. Here are a few ways students often care for themselves:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Talk to someone you trust \u2013 a friend, counselor, or a Victim Advocate.<\/li>\n<li>Take care of your body \u2013 rest, eat, move gently.<\/li>\n<li>Do things that calm you \u2013 journaling, music, or deep breathing.<\/li>\n<li>Set boundaries \u2013 step back from people or situations that feel unsafe.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">You are not alone.
