Your interest, concern, and compassion can encourage students to seek the assistance they need.<\/p>\n<p>SOS has created resources to help faculty and staff support students.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Culture of Caring Training<\/h3>\n<p>Supporting students in distress is vital to fostering a compassionate campus environment and addressing mental health concerns. The Culture of Caring training provides University of La&nbsp;Verne community members with foundational skills to care for students effectively and compassionately.<\/p>\n<p>These trainings includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/laverne.edu\/student-outreach\/culture-of-caring-training\/\">Pre-recorded micro-learning modules<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Live, interactive training sessions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Together, these resources equip faculty, staff, and students to confidently support a culture of care on campus.<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>Class Resources<\/h3>\n<h6><a href=\"https:\/\/laverne.edu\/student-outreach\/how-to-support-students-experiencing-difficult-life-circumstances\/\">How to Support Students Experiencing Difficult Life Circumstances<\/a><\/h6>\n<p>Students are encouraged to communicate with faculty when they are experiencing a difficult life situation (illness, family emergency, well-being concerns, financial issues, or anything affecting their safety, ability to attend class or complete work). Responding empathetically, timely, and consistently is vital to building and maintaining trust with students.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h6>Syllabus Language<\/h6>\n<p><span>Students&#8217; life experiences can affect their academic performance.
