Here are the steps to check if your  wireless network card is disabled by the Mac OS X operating system:\n<ol type=\"A\">\n<li>Look at the upper-right corner of your screen for  the wireless icon. If your Macintosh wireless network card is on, it  should like either of the following screenshots:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<blockquote><p><strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/laverne.edu\/technology\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2010\/10\/airport_on_associated1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5252\" title=\"airport_on_associated\" src=\"https:\/\/laverne.edu\/technology\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2010\/10\/airport_on_associated1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"283\" height=\"56\" \/><\/a> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You can also verify if your wireless network card is on by clicking on the wireless icon and making sure that Airport is &#8220;On&#8221;.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/laverne.edu\/technology\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2010\/10\/airport_is_on.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5251\" title=\"airport_is_on\" src=\"https:\/\/laverne.edu\/technology\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2010\/10\/airport_is_on.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"328\" height=\"214\" srcset=\"https:\/\/laverne.edu\/technology\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2010\/10\/airport_is_on.jpg 328w, https:\/\/laverne.edu\/technology\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2010\/10\/airport_is_on-300x195.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 328px) 100vw, 328px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>If your Macintosh wireless network card is off, it will look like this: <strong><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/laverne.edu\/technology\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2010\/10\/airport_is_off.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5253\" title=\"airport_is_off\" src=\"https:\/\/laverne.edu\/technology\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2010\/10\/airport_is_off.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"305\" height=\"115\" srcset=\"https:\/\/laverne.edu\/technology\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2010\/10\/airport_is_off.jpg 305w, https:\/\/laverne.edu\/technology\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2010\/10\/airport_is_off-300x113.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 305px) 100vw, 305px\" \/><\/a> <\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<ol type=\"A\">\n<li>If you have determined that your Macintosh  wireless network card is turned off, you can turn it on by clicking on  the wireless icon and select <strong>Turn AirPort On<\/strong>:<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/laverne.edu\/technology\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2010\/10\/turn_airport_on.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5254\" title=\"turn_airport_on\" src=\"https:\/\/laverne.edu\/technology\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2010\/10\/turn_airport_on.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"292\" height=\"117\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong><br \/>\nSTEP 2: <\/strong>If you are connecting to the  University of La&nbsp;Verne Wireless network for the first time, you should  see a window appear as shown in the screenshot below; click on the <strong>Yes<\/strong> button.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/laverne.edu\/technology\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2010\/10\/join_ssid.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5256\" title=\"join_ssid\" src=\"https:\/\/laverne.edu\/technology\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2010\/10\/join_ssid.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"420\" height=\"184\" srcset=\"https:\/\/laverne.edu\/technology\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2010\/10\/join_ssid.jpg 420w, https:\/\/laverne.edu\/technology\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2010\/10\/join_ssid-300x131.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 420px) 100vw, 420px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>\nSTEP 3: <\/strong>When your Macintosh wireless  network card is connected to a wireless network, the wireless icon  should appear in bold with stripes:<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/laverne.edu\/technology\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2010\/10\/airport_on_associated1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5252\" title=\"airport_on_associated\" src=\"https:\/\/laverne.edu\/technology\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2010\/10\/airport_on_associated1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"283\" height=\"56\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>You can also click on the wireless icon and verify that it is connected to the University of La&nbsp;Verne Wireless network.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/laverne.edu\/technology\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2010\/10\/ssid_is_selected.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5257\" title=\"ssid_is_selected\" src=\"https:\/\/laverne.edu\/technology\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2010\/10\/ssid_is_selected.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"291\" height=\"196\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<strong><br \/>\nSTEP 4: <\/strong>Open a web browser so your laptop  can go through the Network Admission Control process (the Safari web  browser is used in this example). If your browser does not automatically  go to a default web page, please type in any website address. Enter your University of La&nbsp;Verne e-mail  username and password and click on <strong>Continue<\/strong>. Click on the hyperlink to browse  websites, which will be opened in a new browser window (for example,  http:\/\/google.com is the hyperlink listed in the screenshot below).
