There are two ways you can do this: Using\u00a0 <em>Ask VA (AVA) <\/em>on the Help Portal at <span><strong><a style=\"color: #0000ff\" href=\"https:\/\/ask.va.gov\/\">https:\/\/ask.va.gov<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, or by phone at: (888) 442-4551.<\/p>\n<p>Next&#8230;all VA Education benefit-eligible students, whether a first-time VA benefit user, or transferring benefit use to a new program, should apply for, or update his\/her education benefits.<span> <a style=\"color: #0000ff\" href=\"https:\/\/www.va.gov\/education\/how-to-apply\/\"><strong>This online VA form<\/strong><\/a> <\/span>(link) will complete all necessary documents to include your Certificate of Eligibility (COE) and a VA Form 22-1995 Change of Program\/Place, if needed.<\/p>\n<p>Create your VA account via www.va.gov account to check on the status of benefits, and payments and to request future VA services or information. Important: Update your mobile phone and email when it changes.<\/p>\n<h3>Check-In with the Abraham Center for Veteran Students Success (ACVSS).<\/h3>\n<p>From admission through graduation, we are here to assist you! Start and stay on track when you check in with the ACVSS. Be prepared to provide the following info: Name, if a student your ID#, program\/site, if you are active duty\/veteran, or spouse\/legal domestic partner, or dependent, as well as your VA benefit and generally, what type of assistance you are seeking.\u00a0 Call us at 909-448-1461\/64.<\/p>\n<h3>Order all Transcripts\u2014Early and Online<\/h3>\n<p>The university follows ACE guidelines\/recommendations for military credit.\u00a0 Submit all requested transcripts.\u00a0 Active duty and veteran submit Joint Services Transcript (JST) to the University of La&nbsp;Verne online via the American Council on Education. <strong> Air Force submits Air Force College transcripts (CCAF) <\/strong>online to ULV.\u00a0\u00a0 Link:<span> <strong><a style=\"color: #0000ff\" href=\"https:\/\/www.acenet.edu\/Programs-Services\/Pages\/Credit-Transcripts\/Request-Transcripts.aspx\">https:\/\/www.acenet.edu\/Programs-Services\/Pages\/Credit-Transcripts\/Request-Transcripts.aspx<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Note:<\/span> All applicants with less than 28 transferable college-earned credits should submit a High School transcript or GED.<\/p>\n<h3>Education Plans\/Education Costs Information<\/h3>\n<p>All official transcripts must be received to create an official personalized Education Plan. If you are not yet accepted, you can receive an Education Plan if you have unofficial transcripts, but it will be an unofficial Education Plan. Request these documents through your Admissions Counselor, who will be able to connect you with the correct program&#8217;s academic advisor.\u00a0 Education costs that include financial aid cannot be personalized without a submitted FAFSA.\u00a0 If you have questions please call ACVSS at 909-448-1461, or email <strong><a style=\"color: #0000ff\" href=\"mailto:&#86;et&#83;tude&#110;&#116;&#83;u&#99;&#99;&#101;ss&#64;lave&#114;n&#101;.e&#100;&#117;\">&#86;et&#83;t&#117;&#100;&#101;n&#116;Su&#99;&#99;ess&#64;&#108;&#97;v&#101;&#114;&#110;e.&#101;&#100;u<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3>Academic Advising and Military Advising<\/h3>\n<p>All students are assigned an Academic Advisor and should meet with their advisor prior to each enrollment period to ensure they are on track with the degree and classes. Once admitted you will receive an <em>Acceptance Letter<\/em> to your personal email with your ULV ID#, the name and contact information of your Academic Advisor, as well as additional important instructions.\u00a0 Be sure to keep this information.\u00a0 You can locate your advisor by following the instructions located here: <span><a style=\"color: #0000ff\" href=\"https:\/\/laverne.edu\/veterans\/campus-resources-for-military-connected\/\">La&nbsp;Verne Support: Academic Advising Paragraph.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Military Advising assists VA and Active Duty Tuition Assistance (TA) students with academic advising-related support. S<span>elect advisors provide essential support to the School Certifying Officials (SCOs) with course certifications for VA benefits.\u00a0 Please send only VA and\/or TA-related questions, attached forms that may need review and\/or approval, as well as requests for assistance to the Advising Military email: <span><a style=\"color: #0000ff\" href=\"mailto:&#97;&#100;&#118;i&#115;ingm&#105;li&#116;&#97;r&#121;&#64;l&#97;&#118;&#101;rn&#101;.e&#100;&#117;\"><strong>&#97;dvisingm&#105;l&#105;&#116;&#97;r&#121;&#64;l&#97;vern&#101;.&#101;du<\/strong><\/a>.\u00a0 For more information go to <a href=\"https:\/\/laverne.edu\/advising\/military\/\">Military Advising | University of La&nbsp;Verne<\/a>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Apply for FAFSA<\/h3>\n<p>All VA Education benefits students, undergraduate, and graduate, should apply for federal student aid via FAFSA online to determine eligibility for financial aid or student-friendly loans. All financial aid (including Named Scholarships and Federal Work Study) is only awarded\/distributed to those who <span><strong><a style=\"color: #0000ff\" href=\"https:\/\/studentaid.gov\/h\/apply-for-aid\/fafsa\">complete the free application for FAFSA<\/a><\/strong><\/span> (link). The school code is 001216.\u00a0 Check-in with the Financial Aid Office and meet with an advisor if needed. If transferring and your start date is mid-academic year or summer, submit the school change on FAFSA.\u00a0 Once awarded, view your loan offers and <u>accept or decline loans within 30 days<\/u>. Veterans using benefits may have employment income change.\u00a0 FAFSA awards are based on income two years prior.\u00a0 Apply and once the award is made, contact Financial Aid to explore an adjustment to your award.<\/p>\n<h3>Chapter 31 Veteran Readiness &amp; Employment (VR&amp;E) Academic Worksheet, Education Plan, and Cost Sheet (for approval to attend ULV)<\/h3>\n<p>If you have a VA disability rating of 10% or more, you are encouraged to explore utilizing VRE for your undergraduate degree prior to exhausting your 9\/11. As long as you have remaining 9\/11 you will be eligible to opt for 9\/11 MHA while using VRE.\u00a0Once accepted into the VR&amp;E program,\u00a0 you should discuss your options with your VR&amp; E Counselor.\u00a0 Your VRE Counselor will need an Academic Worksheet and full Education Plan that shows prerequisites, (concentrations if a graduate student), as well as cost estimates from your program.\u00a0\u00a0 Email a request to the Military-Connected Advising Team at <span><a href=\"mailto:ad&#118;&#105;&#115;&#105;n&#103;mili&#116;&#97;r&#121;&#64;&#108;&#97;&#118;e&#114;&#110;e.edu\"><strong>&#97;&#100;v&#105;si&#110;&#103;&#109;&#105;&#108;i&#116;ary&#64;&#108;a&#118;&#101;r&#110;e&#46;edu<\/strong><\/a><\/span> to complete both documents and once completed, you should forward all to your VR&amp;E counselor. If approved, your counselor should issue a Tungsten Authorization\/PO Number, separately, to both your University\u2019s Certifying Official and the University (Follett) Bookstore. To check on the PO, first email your VRE Counselor.\u00a0 If unable to receive a response within a few days, you can check with our ULV Certifying Official at<span> <a href=\"mailto:&#118;ar&#101;g&#64;lav&#101;&#114;&#110;e.&#101;&#100;&#117;\"><strong>&#118;&#97;&#114;&#101;g&#64;&#108;a&#118;er&#110;&#101;&#46;&#101;&#100;&#117;<\/strong><\/a> to see if it has been received.<\/span> \u00a0<strong>NOTE: <\/strong>\u00a0An unofficial transcript must be submitted to your VRE counselor at the end of each semester.\u00a0 Unofficial transcripts can be found on your ULV Portal.<\/p>\n<h3>I&#8217;m admitted, now what?<\/h3>\n<p>Congratulations! You will receive an acceptance letter with important information, instructions, and a Student ID Number to get you started. <span>Do this now:<\/span> Follow the instructions to set up your ULV email and access to the La&nbsp;Verne Portal.\u00a0 Always use and check your ULV email often for important ULV notification emails on services, class registration, and administrative\/academic requirements. Always <span>include your Student ID number on all communications<\/span>. Save your admission letter.\u00a0 Remember! Veteran Student Success is here to help you with set up. Drop by the center or call 909-448-1461 for assistance.<\/p>\n<p>Once registration opens, register for classes.\u00a0 IMPORTANT: After registering, you will access the <strong><a style=\"color: #0000ff\" href=\"https:\/\/laverne.edu\/veterans\/forms\/\">Forms page<\/a> <\/strong>(link) and submit the <em>GI Bill\u00ae Enrollment Certification Request Form<\/em>. Read and follow the instructions!<\/p>\n<p>On registering you will receive an auto request from Student Accounts to set up a payment if necessary.\u00a0 To respond you must have submitted the Certification of classes form above.\u00a0 Respond by forwarding the payment request to <strong>s&#116;u&#97;&#99;c&#116;s&#64;&#108;&#97;&#118;&#101;r&#110;&#101;&#46;&#101;&#100;&#117;<\/strong> and let them know you are using a VA benefit and have submitted your class certification form.\u00a0 Also on the <em>Forms<\/em> page are:\u00a0 The Yellow Ribbon Form,\u00a0 TA (for active duty) Submission form, Parent Letter Request Form, and VRE assistance forms, as well as other forms.
