Writing Group Members’ Roles and Responsibilities
Phase 1 The Self-Study Process
- Purpose: To examine institutional effectiveness under the WSCUC Standards.
- Work on the Compliance with WSCUC Standards Worksheet
- Gather, analyze, and act on evidence, and reflect on the results of the action
- Engage with the campus community, discussions, meetings, surveys, focus groups
- Review previous documents including reaffirmation of accreditation, interim report, substantive changes
Phase 2 The Institutional Report
- Purpose: To summarize findings of the self-study into organized sections.

- Section B: Institutional Essays (Writing Groups)

Steering Committee Charge
- Oversees and monitors completion of tasks for self-study
- Ensures alignment with ULV mission and WSCUC standards
- Communicates with writing groups and the campus
- Facilitates campus feedback and engagement
- Reviews drafts, makes edits, ensures integrity, and is responsible for overall quality of report
- Meet regularly

Operations Team Charge
- Establishes the overall logistical plan and timeline
- Ensures adequate resources for writing groups

Writing Group Charge
- Gathers data, materials, feedback and reflections
- Organizes data and supporting documents to support claims of quality and effectiveness (claim > support with evidence > analyze > improve)
- Reviews institutional practices to ensure ULV meets specific criteria outlined in the WSCUC handbook
- Writes sections of the self-study/institutional report
- Incorporates feedback into the draft
- Meets regularly for progress updates
