Convocation

Come celebrate the beginning of the Academic Year!

Convocation is an annual tradition welcoming new students and faculty to the University of La Verne. Just as Commencement celebrates the completion of study, Convocation marks the beginning of a student’s academic journey. It’s also an opportunity to call together the campus community to celebrate the start of the academic year. Learn about traditions, hear the Spirit Bell ring, and join together as Leos!

The event takes place on Wednesday, August 28th, starting at 11:50 a.m. in the Sports Science and Athletics Pavilion.  We welcome you to participate according to the following schedule:

11:25 a.m. – Procession Lineup for New Students, Club and Organization Representatives, and Athletes, in the Quad.

11:35 a.m. – Call to the Community – Ringing of the Spirit Bell by President Devorah Lieberman, in Johnson Family Plaza.

11:45 a.m. – Academic Lineup for Faculty, Staff, Administrators, and Platform.

11:50 a.m. – Program Begins with Procession.

1:00 p.m. – Convocation Ends.

1:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. – Spirit Bell Ringing Commemorating 128 years!
