MLK Day of Service

Join us as we celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at Peace and Carrots Community Garden in La Verne on Saturday, January 13. The Associated Students of University of La Verne (ASULV) and the Office of Civic and Community Engagement sponsor this event.
Peace and Carrots is a non-profit organization that helps feed its neighbors through contributions to the local food. The community garden currently gives two of its garden plots to local pre-school classes. The teachers use the planting and harvesting of the vegetables they grow to teach the children about nutrition. An additional two larger plots are used for donations to local food banks.
As an attendee, work with master gardeners Kristina Flores (’20) and Marvhic Guinto who will share their gardening experiences (and expertise) and many helpful tips on garden maintenance. You will also be an opportunity to taste some of the garden’s bounty!
