Studio Focus Part 2: Exhibition
November 21, 2024 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
The Department of Art and Art History is thrilled to announce Studio Focus Part 2, an installation of student works from Walpa D’Mark’s Art 260 Painting One classes. D’Mark’s teaching focuses on color theory, experimentation, and self-expression. Students demonstrate skill through composition, color layering, and rendering techniques, and their canvases present unique experiences.
Viewers are invited to enjoy the personality of each piece and discover connections between representational imagery and colorful abstraction. Sun-drenched geometric planes on a house façade are in harmony with the triangles in an abstract composition; rich textures defining a Ferris wheel or pie chart form are in dialogue with the layered surfaces of a representational portrait; and the multiple focal points found in a detailed landscape are in sync with the hardedge angles of a polychromatic exploration.
On view through November 21, 2024
