The Government Relations team is committed to ensuring that the University of La Verne fully complies with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Through clear and comprehensive policies and procedures, we uphold the university’s dedication to the highest legal and ethical standards while cultivating strong, positive relationships with government entities.
Request to Host an Elected Official
To maintain compliance with federal and state guidelines, it is essential that the Government Relations team be notified in advance of any plans to host or engage with elected officials. All departments are required to submit the ‘Elected Official Request’ form prior to initiating contact with any officials. This process ensures that interactions are properly coordinated and that the university remains aligned with legal protocols.
Before hosting, visiting, or contacting a governmental official, please contact the Government Relations team or submit the Elected Official Request form.
Advocacy Policy
To ensure that the University of La Verne presents a unified and strategic voice on matters of public policy, all university offices, departments, and colleges are required to coordinate with the Government Relations team on advocacy efforts. This includes, but is not limited to, requests for Letters of Support or any official positions the university may take. Centralizing these efforts ensures consistency, alignment with institutional goals, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Political Campaign Activities
While the University of La Verne upholds the principles of free expression and values open discourse as a cornerstone of education, it must strictly adhere to legal guidelines regarding political activity. As a nonprofit institution, the university is prohibited from participating in or intervening in any political campaigns on behalf of or in opposition to any candidate. This policy safeguards the university’s neutrality and ensures compliance with federal law.
