The University of La Verne’s Naval Base Ventura County (NBVC) regional campus on the Point Mugu Base offers CLEP and DSST exams by appointment to active duty military and civilians. Please note that you must have base access in order to take an exam at this regional campus.
College Level Exam Program (CLEP) and DANTES Standardized Subject Tests (DSST) exams assess the knowledge of students across a wide spectrum of college-level coursework and classes. Students at the University of La Verne are eligible to complete these tests and earn up to 44 units toward their degree(s).
CLEP Registration
Registering for an exam and scheduling your test with La Verne NBVC are two separate steps.
- Register for your exam.
- Contact NBVC test center to schedule an exam date.
There is a $20 test proctoring fee for non-active duty and civilians.
DSST Registration
Exam registrations for an actual DSST examination are done at the test center. Contact NBVC test center to schedule an exam date.

Scores
- DSST: Your results will be made available to you at the test center after your examination has been completed. You must provide the correct college code at the time of registration in order to have your official scores sent to the college of your choice.
- CLEP: Your score is available to you as soon as you take the exam unless you took the College Composition or Spanish with Writing exams, it takes College Board 2–3 weeks to deliver a score report for these exams. You can also view your scores online by logging into the CLEP My Account portal with the same account you used to register for the exam. Once logged in, go to the My CLEP Exam Scores page to view your scores.
Exams may be funded by DANTES Eligibility
- Service Members: Military personnel, to include active duty, Guard and Reserve components, U.S. Coast Guard, and USCG Reserve members must have and maintain a valid government-issued Common Access Card (CAC) to be eligible for DANTES funding.
- U.S. Coast Guard Spouses: Spouses of active duty and Reserve Coast Guard members must have and maintain the Uniformed Services Identification and Privilege Card, DD Form 1173 to be eligible for DANTES funding.
- Air Force Civil Service employees: Non-contract US Air Force civilian employees are eligible for DANTES-sponsored CLEP testing, but must test at on-base or fully-funded test centers.
