The Office of International Services and Engagement (OISE) specializes in advising international students and scholars, helping them understand and maintain their immigration and visa status, planning orientations, workshops, and other culturally diverse events that help our students thrive while adjusting to American culture and the La Verne community.
We are pleased to share with you that the United States Immigrations and Customs Enforcement has announced that it will no longer require international students to leave the United States if they choose or are required to study fully online this fall.
As part of a legal settlement with colleges and universities, ICE has withdrawn the changes it announced on July 6 to the Student Exchange and Visitor Program (SEVP). The University of La Verne was among more than 200 colleges and universities that joined the court fight against the July 6 changes.
The University of La Verne remains committed to supporting your studies in the fall and beyond, and we believe this development allows us to provide you with a range of flexible options to ensure your academic success.
The University of La Verne will begin the fall semester and term with primarily remote teaching and learning across all campuses, and only essential on-campus operations. (Read more)
January interterm and winter term will be remote. (Read more)
Spring semester and term will be remote. (Read more)
We are also prepared to accommodate students who will study fully online, from the United States or their home countries, and international students who currently have an Active status I-20 will be able to maintain their SEVIS status and stay in compliance with their visa regulations, as long as they are enrolled in full-time units.
Any student wishing to study in the United States should also work with their academic advisor to make sure that they are enrolled as a full-time student, and making progress towards the completion of their degree.
The Office of International Services and Engagement will continue to closely monitor guidance related to SEVP and update you with additional information as it becomes available. You can also view the University of La Verne’s Safe Return plan for fall at laverne.edu/safereturn.
