Our Mission Statement
The mission of the University of La Verne Safety Committee (Safety Committee) is to develop and promote a healthy and safe environment for students, employees, and visitors on our campuses through the involvement of all individuals with regards to education, communication and safe work practices. In addition to this primary mission, the Safety Committee encourages all employees to participate in safety best practices for the betterment of all concerned. The personal safety and well-being of each student, employee, and visitor of the University of La Verne is of primary importance. In carrying out its primary mission, the committee is committed to five basic principles:
- Strengthening human and financial resources by developing a culture where campus and workplace safety is paramount to protect our students, employees, and visitors.
- Work with facilities to develop tactical best practice principles designed to promote safe campus facilities.
- Act as an educational resource to formulate and disseminate policies, practices, and procedures which promote health and safety.
- Assist management in matters pertaining to occupational health and safety. This will include helping set priorities to control hazards.
- Serve as a problem-solving group to identify and resolve health and safety matters.
The Office of Risk Management implemented this program in 2015.
Training
CPR
Prepares you to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies.
AED
Provide care for victims of sudden cardiac arrest through the safe use of an automated external defibrillator.
First Aid Training
The emergency or immediate care you should provide when a person is injured or ill until full medical treatment is available.
Stryker Evacuation Chair
Offers the power to evacuate disabled or injured persons weighing up to 500 pounds.
Fire Drills
Raise awareness of fire hazards in the workplace and how to act safely in the event of an emergency fire situation, including selecting and using the correct fire extinguisher.
Safety and Health Training
Provide employees with instruction, information and training necessary to ensure their health and safety.
