Kurzweil 3000: Text-to-Speech Technology
Kurzweil 3000 is a powerful learning tool designed to help people with reading, writing, and studying, especially those with learning differences. Kurzweil 3000 allows users to listen to text aloud using text-to-speech and turn printed documents into digital text, providing the ability to highlight essential information, take notes, and use tools to organize and simplify complex information, such as summarization and graphic organizers.
Other helpful features include word prediction to assist with writing, built-in dictionaries and thesauruses for looking up words, and a customizable interface to adjust font sizes and colors. Kurzweil 3000 also allows users to record their voice while working, making it easier to remember key information. Kurzweil 3000 works on Windows, Mac, and mobile devices and includes tools for sharing and collaborating with others, along with features to track your learning progress. It’s a versatile tool that makes studying and learning more accessible and efficient!
Offered as a free resource for all University of La Verne students, it’s available anytime and anywhere an internet connection exists. It can be accessed from any computer running a Windows or Macintosh operating system, supports any web browser, and reads KES, K3C, TXT, DOC, DOCX, EPUB, RTF, BKS, JPG, JPEG, PNG, and PDF file formats!
