International Admitted Student Checklist

Congratulations on your admission! We very much look forward to having you on our campus shortly. At this time, we’d like to provide you with an Admitted Student Checklist, to help guide you through the process of becoming a University of La Verne Leo.

Step 1: Complete your Promissory Note

Please complete your University of La Verne promissory note by downloading and mailing the Promissory Note to University of La Verne, Student Accounts, 1950 3rd Street, La Verne, CA 91750, or bringing it by the Student Accounts office in Woody Hall. If you already have a US Social Security Number, you may choose to submit the Note online by visiting the La Verne Portal and clicking on Secure Area (you will need your student ID number, found on your admission letter, to log in). Click on Student Services and Financial Aid tab, and then on Registration. Lastly, select the Payment Agreement and Promissory Note link to complete this form.

Step 2: Submit Your $200 Deposit

If you have not yet done so, we would encourage you to submit your deposit online (instructions are on your admissions letter) or stop by our office with a check made out to the University of La Verne.

Step 3: Obtain or Transfer your I-20

Roughly one week after your deposit is received, your file will be readied for the Office of International Services and Study Abroad (ISSA). They will contact you directly regarding issuance of your I-20.

If you are currently in the US on an F or J visa, please request that your school transfers your SEVIS record to the University of La Verne after you have completed your current studies. You can download the Transfer Form from the OISS website. When OISS contacts you, please inform them of any travel plans outside of the United States before you start your studies at the University of La Verne.

Step 4: Meet Your Academic Advisor

Your admission letter contains information on contacting your department. We recommend that you set up an advising appointment to select courses for your first semester and begin planning your educational path at the University of La Verne.

Step 5: Register for Classes

Once you have been admitted to the program and submitted your deposit, you will be able to register for classes through the La Verne Portal. You will find your log-in information on your admission letter. Though your academic advisor can guide you on course selection, if you have any additional questions about the registration process, the Registrar’s Office will be able to assist you.

Step 6: Apply for Housing

Admitted students interested in living on campus are encouraged to visit our Student Housing page to learn about our University offerings.
