COVID-19 Containment and Response Guidelines

The University of La Verne COVID-19 Containment and Response protocols describe the university’s approach to preventing and containing the spread of COVID-19 on campus and in the university community.  These guidelines align with state and county public health requirements and may change as state and county health guidelines are updated.

The latest Los Angeles County Department of Public Health COVID-19 Isolation and Quarantine Guidelines are available here.

If you’ve tested positive for COVID-19

Individuals who are COVID-19 positive must:

  • Complete a University Health Report Form
  • As appropriate, inform your supervisor and/or professor that you will be out sick
  • Follow guidance from your medical provider and/or Student Health Center.
    • If you are an on-campus resident, isolation rooms are available. Please contact the Student Health Center 909-448-4619 immediately to let us know that you are a resident and unable to isolate off-campus.
    • If you are an athlete let your athletic trainer and/or coach know immediately.
  • Per county guidelines, you will need to isolate if you are with symptoms and/or with fever. You don’t need to isolate or can exit isolation provided the following criteria is met:
    • Have not had a fever for 24 hours without taking medication that reduces fevers; AND
    • Other symptoms are not present or are mild and improving.
  • If based on the criteria, you are able to exit isolation, you must wear a well-fitting, high-quality mask (KN95 or N95) until the completion of Day 10.  Day 0 is considered the first day an individual tests positive or experiences symptoms.
  • If symptoms continue after 10 days, regardless of COVID results, please see your personal physician for evaluation.
  • If the COVID test is positive after 10 days AND you have no symptoms, continue to wear a mask until the COVID test is negative.
  • Students may call the student health center at 909-448-4619 to schedule an appointment for evaluation and medication.

Note – Student Health Center Staff (for students) and Medical Provider (for staff) may modify guidelines as appropriate based on individual case.

Cleaning and Disinfection of Exposed Areas

The COVID-19 Response Team notifies Custodial Services of physical area/areas in need of cleaning and disinfection. Upon notification, custodial team members are dispatched and engaged to thoroughly clean and disinfect identified areas. Cleaning and disinfection strategies are in alignment with standards set by the CDC and EPA. They include targeted disinfecting of high-touch areas and use of electrostatic spray machines. To the extent possible, custodial staff will open windows to have the room air out and maximize airflow circulation. Areas require a 20-30 minute wait period before being available for re-entering or use.
