Peer Mentoring Program

Mentees

Mentees are first-year and second-year students. Students who want to participate in the peer mentoring program must go through the application process. Students can apply here for the program.

 Students in our program are highly encouraged to:

  • Identify as Latinx & are Pell Grant eligible
  • Identify as a student of color & are Pell Grant eligible
  • Identify as STEM majors (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science, Math & Kinesiology)
  • Highly encouraged for students who identify as a first generation student (none of your parents or legal guardians have received a BA degree)

Mentee requirements:

  • Attend summer onboarding
  • Weekly meetings with a peer mentor
  • Monthly 1:1 meeting with grant staff
  • Attendance at our monthly programming
  • Academic coaching the 1st 6 weeks of school
  • Maintain a 2.5 GPA

Mentors

Mentors are third, fourth, and transfer students who have been at the University for at least a year. These students have a passion for mentoring underclass students. Students who want to participate in the peer mentoring program must go through the application process. Students can apply here.
