Campus Activities Board
Description of Positions
CAB is comprised of 13 CAB Members; 3 Executive Board Members and 10 Cabbies. CAB positions are held by traditional undergraduate students of the La Verne Main Campus only. Students must be full time and be in good academic and social standing for the entire duration of their position. (E-Board Members must meet and maintain a 2.75 GPA minimum / Cabbies must meet and maintain a 2.50 GPA minimum). All positions are paid positions.
CAB Co-Chairs (Executive Board – 2 positions)
The CAB Chair serves as the president of the organization. Their primary responsibility and overall role is to ensure that the entire board is meeting their goal and mission.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee programmatic, operational, financial and evaluative efforts of the University of La Verne Campus Activities Board (CAB).
- Work with Associate Director of Student Life and CAB Public Relations/Marketing chair in developing programming and marketing goals, initiatives, and strategies for the Campus Activities Board.
- Coordinate CAB involvement in promotional efforts at events such as but not limited to: Club Fair, Welcome Week, Orientation and at other all-campus activities and events.
- Assist in the hiring of CAB Sub-Chairs; assist in coordinating training, office hour scheduling and overall supervision and evaluation of CAB Sub-chairs.
- Chair weekly CAB meetings and CAB executive board meetings.
- Assist in the coordination of start-of-semester CAB retreats.
- Attend and update student leaders on upcoming campus programming at weekly ASULV meetings.
- Assist in budget planning, preparation, and reporting.
- Assist in contract negotiation and overall processing of independent contractor forms for the University of La Verne.
- Oversee the preparation of CAB annual report and subsequent budget requests to ASULV and the Office of Student Life.
- Maintain a set schedule of 8 office hours each week in addition to scheduled CAB meetings.
- Maintain regular 1:1’s with sub chairs on a bi-weekly basis
- Must be able to consistently abide by deadlines for proposing, planning, marketing, and evaluating events/activities.
- Must meet and maintain a 2.75 grade point average.
CAB Marketing/Public Relations Chair (Executive Board)
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create semester calendar of events including all planned programs from the Campus Activities Board.
- Assist CAB chairs in developing marketing materials and promotions for their events.
- Solicit student organization sponsored programs and events for Student Life master calendar.
- Develop CAB recruitment promotions and marketing materials for publication.
- Serve as liaison to Campus Times student newspaper; submit weekly press releases and updated calendar information.
- Serve as liaison to KULV radio station; submit weekly press releases and updated calendar information.
- Update CAB brochures and other promotional materials.
- Update CAB website, links, and program information.
- Work with Associate Director of Student Life and the CAB Chair in developing programming and marketing goals, initiatives, and strategies for the Campus Activities Board.
- Assist in coordinating CAB involvement in promotional efforts at events such as but not limited to: Club Fair, Welcome Week, Orientation and at other all-campus activities and events.

- Maintain a set schedule of 8 office hours each week in addition to scheduled CAB meetings.
- Assist in the coordination, purchase and maintenance of CAB promotional materials.
- Must meet and maintain a 2.75 grade point average.
CAB Chair (“Cabbies”)
When fully staffed, CAB has a total of ten Cabbies.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
- 5 + Office Hours per week
- Support / Attend / Assist with other CAB events as designated.
- Participation at CAB Bonding events, Training sessions, retreats.
- Work with Associate Director of Student Life and CAB Chair in developing committee programming and marketing goals, initiatives, and strategies for the Campus Activities Board.
- Coordinate programs; coordinate events tailored to their specific chair position.
- Recruit, train and oversee volunteer committee to assist in overall planning, implementation and evaluation of events and activities.
- Maintain budget; create and report weekly, monthly and yearly budget reports for program area.
- Submit to Public Relations/Marketing chair weekly committee events.
- Assist Public Relations/Marketing chair in developing updated website information for committee programs and events.
- Co-sponsor events with other student clubs, organizations, and committees.
- Maintain committee files from year to year; Assist in the preparation of CAB annual report and subsequent budget requests to ASULV and the Office of Student Life.
- Maintain set schedule of five office hours each week in addition to the CAB meeting and any committee meeting.
- Attend a bi-weekly 1:1 with CAB chair
- Must be able to consistently abide by deadlines for proposing, planning, marketing, and evaluating events/activities.
- Must meet and maintain a 2.5 grade point average.
CAB Comedy Chair
- A minimum of one comedy event per month for both fall and spring semester.
- Comedy events may consist of but are not limited to, stand-up comedians, mentalists, magicians, ventriloquists, etc. Any event focusing of laughter and fun is open to all students. This event is free and open to all students.
CAB Concerts Chair
- A minimum of one musical event per month for both fall and spring semester.
- Concert events may consist of but are not limited to, bands-both amplified and acoustic, singers, instrumental, karaoke, etc.
- Concert Chair researches different genres of music and coordinates the venue and programming for that concert event. A diversity of music is selected throughout the year to meet the interests of all students. This event is free and open to all students.
CAB Films Chair
- A minimum of one event per month for both fall and spring semester.
- Movie nights consisting of a pre-home released movie. Generally, free snacks and beverages are provided at these movie nights. During warm seasons, outdoor movie nights may be coordinated to offer a variety of venues to the student population. This event is free and open to all students.
CAB Major Events Co-Chairs (2 positions)
- Consisting of two student positions, the Major Events Co-Chairs program the large-scale events. Such events as; Homecoming, Welcome Weeks, Commuter Days, Winter Formal (or similar) and Soakfest.
CAB Multicultural Chair
- Providing opportunities for cultural enrichment through events focusing on other cultures, customs, and holidays.
- These events often consist of ethnic foods, cultural entertainment and activities and key information on specific cultures. Students learn and broaden their minds while enjoying the atmosphere of the event and meeting other students of other cultures.
CAB Philanthropy Chair
- Focusing on community service, benefits, charitable events and public service announcements.
- Events are intended to show students the many ways they can contribute to the community and world.
CAB Special Events Chair
- Unique and random events and activities for all students.
- These programs can consist of dance lessons, arts and crafts, and BBQs. Other holiday events that fall under this position are; Valentine’s Day, Halloween, and winter holiday events.
CAB Spirit Chair
- Bringing the La Verne Leopard spirit to the students and sporting events.
- Many Spirit programs consist of Pep Rallies, Tailgate events, cheering on the La Verne Leopards at sporting events and activities.
- These events engage students and encourage them to come out to sporting events.
