Terrence E. Deal, Ph.D.

Terrence DealDr. Terry Deal ’61 is the founder of the Terrence E. Deal Leadership Institute at the University of La Verne.

Dr. Deal is a renowned leadership expert, author, and international consultant having taught organization and leadership courses at Stanford, Harvard, Vanderbilt, and the University of Southern California. He retired as the Irving R. Melbo Clinical Professor of USC‘s Rossier School of Education and now consults for a wide variety of organizations including businesses, hospitals, banks, schools, colleges, religious orders, and military organizations worldwide.

Dr. Deal has written forty books and more than one hundred articles and book chapters concerning organizations, leadership, change, culture, and symbolism, soul, and spirit. He is the coauthor of sixteen books, including the best-selling Corporate Cultures with A.A. Kennedy, Managing the Hidden Organization with W.A. Jenkins, and Reframing Organizations with Lee Bolman.

Dr. Deal earned his B.A. from the University of La Verne, M.A. from California State University Los Angeles, and Ph.D. in Educational Administration and Sociology from Stanford University.
