Multicultural Graduation Celebration

Saturday, May 18, 2024
9:30am
Athletic Pavilion Gymnasium, La Verne Campus

The University of La Verne’s Multicultural Graduation Celebration invites all those cleared for graduation to participate in a unique cultural graduation celebration with family and friends. The Multicultural Graduation Celebration complements and does not replace the main commencement in that it specifically acknowledges and celebrates graduates and their families within a cultural context. Each participating student is given the opportunity to invite all their family and friends, and each student will share, on stage, a 30-word expression of appreciation to those who have supported them in their academic journey. This statement that is read by each student makes for a very personalized celebration. Finally, students purchase their sashes that are bestowed on them from the Campus Store; there are 7 cultural sashes to choose from.

Blessing of the Graduates (Baccalaureate)

Friday, May 24, 2024
4:00pm
Church of the Brethren, La Verne

The Blessing of the Graduates (also known as “Baccalaureate”) is a spiritually-inspired, multifaith ceremony to honor and bless our graduates! The ceremony includes an inspirational keynote speaker, readings and music from a diversity of spiritual traditions, and a special blessing to honor the gifts and personhood of each graduate as they complete their degree, move on, and continue their journey. The ceremony is a formal commencement activity led by University dignitaries and the University Chaplain and includes a formal procession of graduates and faculty in their regalia (cap and gown). Family and Friends are welcome!
