La Verne Expresses Solidarity with LGBTQ Community

The University of La Verne added a rainbow of colors to Founders Hall Monday night when its outdoor light installations were reconfigured as a show of solidarity with the country’s LGBTQ community in the wake of the mass shooting in Orlando earlier this month.

“The University of La Verne highly values diversity and inclusivity,” said President Devorah Lieberman and Board of Trustees chairman Luis Faura in a joint statement released yesterday. “We firmly believe there is no room, no place, and no circumstance where violence against any race, creed, sexual orientation, age, gender, or religion should ever be tolerated, accepted, or encouraged.”

The display is part of a campus-wide response to the attacks in the Pulse nightclub that left 49 dead and 53 injured.
