University of La Verne Offers Chance to Win Some Wheels, Support Scholarships
Tickets are now available for a drawing to win a 2017 Toyota Prius Prime Premium, with proceeds supporting student scholarships.
The University of La Verne will sell 500 tickets at $100 each. The drawing will occur at the university’s Scholarship Gala on March 24. The winner does not need to be present.
The family of the late Richard Romero, a University of La Verne trustee from 1978 to 2000, donated the fully-loaded vehicle through its company, OREMOR Automotive Group. Romero provided key financial direction for the university during his time on the board. His children are also Leopard alumni.
His daughter, Valerie C. Romero ‘00, who earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of La Verne, has served on the Board of Trustees since 2006 and is executive vice president of OREMOR.
“We value our 30-year relationship with University of La Verne and are honored to support our shared belief in lifelong learning, a diverse community, and intellectual curiosity, creating a path to successful careers and lives,” Romero said.
This is the second year the university has held a car drawing to benefit students, having raised more than $62,000 for student scholarships last year.
Last year’s winner, alumna Nicole Clark, purchased a single ticket just before leaving for a temporary assignment for the Navy in Italy, and received the good news while serving overseas.
