Resources Available for Students Affected by Hate Incidents

On Thursday, Feb. 28, and Friday, March 1, the University of La Verne received two reports of hate crimes targeted at members of the student body.

These actions are despicable and are an affront to our values as a university. This is a critical moment for us to declare that we will not tolerate this type of behavior.

Classes were canceled on the afternoon of Friday, March 1. They resumed on Saturday, March 2. All other events are continuing as scheduled.

The University of La Verne is cooperating with the La Verne Police Department and federal officials in ongoing criminal investigations into the incidents.

Staff, faculty, and administrators are also working to provide comfort, support, and accommodations to students who have been affected. The Counseling and Psychological Services office is available at laverne.edu/counseling or 909-448-4105.

University Safety Operations has increased the presence of campus safety officers and the City of La Verne Police Department is conducting additional patrols of the area. Special parking spaces are available for impacted students near the University Safety Operations Office. Students who need accommodations for academic coursework can contact the dean of students’ office at 909-448-4448.

Anyone with information about these incidents should contact the City of La Verne Police Department at 909-593-2531 or University of La Verne Safety Operations at 909-448-4950. Or, in the event of an emergency, please call 911.
