Todd Britton, Vice President of Information Technology at the University of La Verne, has been named a finalist for the prestigious Southern California ORBIE® Awards for Chief Information Officer (CIO) of the Year. This is the second consecutive year he has been nominated for this accolade.
The SoCal ORBIE® Awards honor chief information officers who have demonstrated excellence in technology leadership, organization, and vision in the region. The award is presented annually by the regional Southern California CIO Leadership Association, which is one of over 30 chapters of the Inspire Leadership Network, a national membership organization comprised of CIOs from public and private businesses, government, education, healthcare, and nonprofit institutions.
This year, over 200 nominations were received for the award, demonstrating the depth and breadth of technology leaders in the region. Out of the six award categories by annual revenue, Britton is representing as the only university in the Corporate Finalist category.
Britton has worked at the university for 15 years, focusing on promoting “technology enablement.” This involves utilizing technology to make sure it does not hinder students, faculty, and staff from achieving their goals. During his tenure, Britton has also enhanced the university’s IT infrastructure in cost-effective ways, including the implementation of direct dial extensions for all work lines and the change to new learning management systems.
“I consider myself to be a servant leader,” Britton said. “I am very focused on how I can support my direct reports and those in my organization to be the best versions of themselves every day.”
Britton aims to increase technological literacy for university students, faculty, and staff so that they continue to make meaningful contributions to their communities and beyond as future leaders. He is honored to have been nominated for a second time for this award.
“I am humbled and grateful to be with my colleagues and peers here who are making significant changes in the technology communities in which we serve,” Britton said.
The winner of the CIO of the Year award will be announced at the SoCal ORBIE® Awards ceremony, which will take place on October 4 in Huntington Beach, California.
