Banner 9 Upgrade Project

The Banner 9 Upgrade is a campus wide initiative to complete the upgrade of our Banner environment from Banner 8x to Banner 9x.  Banner 9 release delivers a number of important enhancements, including a modern user interface, enhanced navigation and process management tools, and new functionality across the student, human resources and finance functions. It also eliminates the need to run Java (JRE) in the browser. With the launch of Banner 9, you will use a new single sign-on application called Application Navigator to perform all the administrative functions you once completed on Internet Native Banner (INB).

This project will required a new infrastructure, application development, integration, module development, and testing. This upgrade will be done in a phased release to various populations across campus. Phase one for Banner INB only will impact staff users. Phase two for Banner self-service will impact faculty, students.

Constraints

Constraints are aspects about the project that cannot be changed and are limiting in nature.

  • Ellucian will no longer support Banner 8x INB version as of December 31, 2018

(This means that customers will no longer receive regulatory release (e.g., Financial Aid regulatory updates), product enhancement or new hot fixes/patches of any kind.)

  • Oracle forms extended support ends December 31, 2018

(This means that customers who continue to use this platform will owe additional maintenance fees directly to Oracle.)
