Time to Completion

150% Direct Subsidized loan limit

The University of La Verne makes every effort to provide all eligible students with information about federal student aid programs authorized under Title IV of the Higher Education Act.

Title IV programs which the University of La Verne participate in include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. Loans
    • Federal Direct Loan
  2. Grants
    • Federal Pell Grant
    • Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)
  3. Federal Work-Study (FWS)

Please visit the Federal Student Aid site for more information.

In order to assist students with their academic/financial planning, the University provides information on the time to completion of all traditional, accelerated programs and certificates offered.

  • In particular, a program’s length should correlate with a student’s Maximum Eligibility Period for Direct Subsidized Loans.
  • It is important that a program’s time to completion falls within the time period allocated for the subsidized loan benefit (see studentaid.ed.gov for more information).
  • The University abides by the federal government’s “150% Rule” – the time to completion metric the government uses for federal student aid is 150% of the time advertised by the institution.
  • For example,  a four year bachelor-level program would see financial aid administration  from the government for six years.
