Student Employment

Many students are employed at the University of La Verne and work in a variety of jobs  on campus. There are two types of student employment on campus, La Verne Work Study/Student Employment and Federal Work Study.  Federal Work Study is need based and is awarded to students through their financial aid award. La Verne Work Study/Student Employment jobs are paid by a department and do not require funds to be awarded through financial aid.

What is Federal Work Study?

Federal Work Study is a paid work opportunity to eligible undergraduate and graduate students with financial need, allowing them to earn money to pay for educational expenses. Employment may not exceed 20 hours per week during periods when school is in session in the fall and spring semesters. Every effort is made to place students in work related to their studies, career plans, or community service. To be considered for Federal Work Study a student must apply for financial aid by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Community Service Program

The Federal Work Study Community Service Program (FWS-CSP) is a wonderful opportunity for students to engage with local non-profits organizations in La Verne, Pomona, or the Inland Empire to gain real world career experience, positively impact the community, and earn money.

This opportunity seeks to connect Federal Work Study eligible students with community partners in accordance with Federal Work Study Community Service guidelines. The University of La Verne’s Offices of Civic and Community Engagement and Financial Aid  co-administer this program.  You must be awarded Federal Work Study (FWS) to apply for a FWS Community Service job.
