Dean’s Corner December 2015
The College of Law is on the brink of manifesting its destiny.
More than 15 years ago, the University and the College of Law decided to seek full ABA approval. The University moved the College of Law from La Verne to Ontario to have a facility that could house the library, classrooms, faculty and staff that an ABA law school needed.
Over the next several years, the College of Law shifted from predominately adjunct professors to predominately full-time faculty, hired experienced Deans with ABA experience, and developed a curriculum that is now the most unique in the country in terms of blending doctrine, skills, and experiential learning. In January 2016, we will appear before the ABA Accreditation Committee, followed in March by an appearance before the Council of the Section on Legal Education and Admission to the Bar.
While no one can predict the outcome of these visits, I strongly believe we have met the ABA Standards for Approval of Law Schools and that a future E-Newsletter will be a celebratory announcement of the University of La Verne College of Law as a law school with Full ABA Approval.
In the meantime, let’s celebrate the accomplishments of our faculty, students, and staff that continue to make La Verne Law a great place to work, grow and receive an excellent and relevant legal education. I invite you to explore this E-Newsletter and our website to learn all the interesting and exciting events happening at the University of La VerneCollege of Law, The Most Unique Law School in the Nation.
