La Verne Law Hosts 16th Annual Constitutional Law Forum

The College of Law hosted the Inland Empire Chapter of the Federal Bar Association’s 16th Annual Constitutional Law Forum and luncheon May 17. The event offered an opportunity for members of the federal judiciary to mingle and enjoy lunch with members of the Federal Bar and College of Law faculty and staff.

Dean Erwin Chemerinsky, Dean and Distinguished Professor of Law at the University of California, Irvine School of Law, presented his annual State of the Supreme Court address where he discussed the potential effects of several recent, significant United States Supreme Court decisions.

The program also included the Federal Bar Association presenting U.S. District Judge Virginia A. Phillips with the 2016 Erwin Chemerinsky Defender of the Constitution Award. The award honors an individual whose work clearly reflects his or her sworn commitment to support the United States Constitution. Past recipients include Charles Doskow, who is presently Dean Emeritus and Professor of Law at the College of Law.
