The University of La Verne College of Law is partnering with attorneys from western San Bernardino County to offer free legal advice to the general public on Saturday, October 20.

Law Day, which is co-sponsored by the College of Law and the Western San Bernardino County Bar Association, will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the College of Law, 320 E. D St. in Ontario.

Volunteer attorneys will offer advice in areas such as criminal law, civil disputes, personal injury, immigration, landlord and tenant matters, probate, family law, and employment law.

“Too many people in the Inland Empire lack access to the legal services they need,” said Kevin Marshall, dean of the University of La Verne College of Law. “We are proud to partner with the San Bernardino County legal community to help meet this need and give back to the community.”

Attendees should bring all necessary notes, documents, forms, and information pertaining to their legal issues. Although participants may speak with an attorney to receive legal advice at the event, no attorney-client or fiduciary relationship will be formed. Attorneys will not provide services beyond the consultation.

Spanish interpreters will be available.

The event builds on the College of Law’s community service efforts. The college has previously held pop-up clinics and information sessions to educate community members on immigration and other legal issues.

Law Day is free and open to the public but registration is highly suggested.  Those interested in attending can go to law.laverne.edu/lawday to register beginning Sept. 1.
