Sohelia Azizi COL

The Western San Bernardino County Bar Association has honored University of La Verne College of Law alumna Soheila Azizi with the Jennifer Brooks Lawyer of the Year Award. Azizi accepted the award during the association’s virtual 2020-2021 Installation of Officers & Awards Ceremony on Oct. 1, 2020.

The Western San Bernardino County Bar Association is composed of members of the legal profession who are dedicated to providing ethical legal justice practices through the exchange of ideas, high standards of conduct, continued education, public service, and more.

The Jennifer Brooks Lawyer of the Year Award is given annually to a local lawyer who “demonstrates the finest qualities” of the legal profession. The award is tied to Judge Charles W. McCoy’s “Five Cs”: candor, compassion, civility, courage, and competence, and is named in honor of the late Jennifer Brooks.

Azizi, JD ’93, is an accomplished lawyer with nearly three decades of experience in the legal profession. She works primarily in San Bernardino County and the Inland Empire under her own practice, The Law Office of Soheila Azizi & Associates, P.C., while also providing conflict resolution services through her Arbitration & Mediation Services non-profit entities, among other co-founded public benefit organizations. She also serves on the Board of Advisors for the University of La Verne College of Law.

At a young age, Azizi discovered her passion for advocacy when she escaped from religious persecution and human rights violations amid the Iranian Revolution. Azizi now dedicates her professional and personal life to bringing peace, justice, and equity to her community.

“Through her dedicated service to the community, Soheila exemplifies the values we teach at the University of La Verne College of Law,” said Kevin Marshall, dean of the college. “We are proud of her and her work, and we congratulate her on this well-deserved recognition.”
