The awards include the 2022 ACHE Leadership Award, ACHE Older Adult Model Program Award, ACHE Outstanding Services to Underserved Populations Award, and the ACHE Creative Use of Technology Award.

ACHE is dedicated to promoting lifelong learning and excellence in continuing higher education. As an organization of colleges, universities, and individuals, it encourages professional development, research, and the exchange of information for its members in continuing higher education as a means of enhancing and improving society.

Niki Elliott, director for the university’s Center for Neurodiversity, Learning, and Wellness, received the 2022 ACHE Leadership Award. Elliott is a published author, speaker, and expert in the fields of mindfulness, holistic education, and mind/body healing.

The Neurodiversity and Inclusion Certificate was recognized in the ACHE Older Adult Model Program Award category. This professional non-degree certificate program is designed for PK-12 teachers, administrators, mental health professionals, and others seeking to enhance their ability to serve and include neurologically diverse students in all learning environments.

The ACHE Outstanding Services to Underserved Populations Award was presented to The Project Hope Alliance, in partnership with Pomona Unified School District and the Branch Alliance for Educator Diversity. The university and its partners helped to provide quality learning experiences to unaccompanied children at the Pomona Fairplex Emergency Intake Site as well as provide fieldwork opportunities for Inclusive Education candidates.

The final ACHE Creative Use of Technology Award was granted to the college’s technology workshops, which aim to teach educators how to use common technology applications to support neurodiverse learners.

The LaFetra College of Education prepares students to become effective educators and advocates for social equity within the community. The college offers master’s degrees, a doctoral degree, certificates, and credential programs, in addition to several centers that support students and educators across the region.
