Introducing the Renamed College of Law and Public Service and College of Business
Effective July 1, the University of La Verne College of Law and Public Service and the College of Business were officially renamed to better meet the future needs of students and communities in the region.
Earlier this year, the University of La Verne Board of Trustees approved the official renaming and reorganization, which includes transitioning public administration programs under the College of Law and Public Service. Discussion, planning, and research was initiated nearly four years ago when the university started envisioning transdisciplinary opportunities. University officials say the new synergies aim to significantly impact public service, law, and business in the region, especially when it comes to social mobility, diverse leadership, and filling workforce deficits.
“As a Minority- and Hispanic-Serving Institution committed to social justice, this innovative fusion of law and public service will ensure that our university trains the next generation of leaders,” said Acting Provost Roy Kwon. “Specifically, students will understand the intersection of our legal system and government, which will thus translate into a transformation of their communities.”
Support toward completion of desired programs of study and graduation timelines for current students will not be impacted. Meanwhile, both colleges are planning to offer new educational opportunities in the future.
