Message from University Safety Operations

Monday, September 9, 2024

Dear University of La Verne Faculty and Staff,
I hope this message finds you well. The University of La Verne’s classes are in session today.
Due to the Line Fire in San Bernardino and the Bridge Fire in Angeles National Forest (North of La Verne), the overall air quality throughout the Inland Empire and San Gabriel Valley is a cause for concern.
With the current heat advisory and the ongoing wildfires impacting our air quality, the safety and well-being of individuals within our learning community is our top priority. As a result, we are implementing the following precautions:
  • Modifications to Outdoor Activities: Please contact your coach or instructor directly for updates on safety precautions.
  • Hydration: We encourage individuals to bring water bottles to use during the day as we have water dispensers throughout the campus.
We would also like to remind you to dress comfortably in light clothing and to stay hydrated. We will continue to monitor the situation and will provide updates as needed.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we navigate these challenging conditions together.
Sincerely,
Ruben Ibarra
Executive Director, University Safety Operations
