University of La Verne Earns Gold Military Friendly® School Designation for 2025

The University of La Verne has once again been designated a 2025 Military Friendly® School with a prestigious gold ranking for its efforts to create meaningful education paths for the military-connected community supporting their educational and career aspirations.

“Supporting veterans is a priority for us because they’ve sacrificed so much for our country. We understand that transitioning back to civilian life and school can be tough—whether it’s adjusting to a new environment, managing mental health, or navigating academic systems after time away. At the University of La Verne, we’re committed to providing the resources, support, and understanding they need to succeed. From tailored academic advising and career counseling to the Sara and Michael Abraham Center for Veteran Student Success, we’re here to help veterans thrive both in the classroom and in life beyond it,” said Juan Regalado, dean of students.

The University of La Verne serves 458 enrolled military personnel and veterans at the historic La Verne campus, on the regional campus at Naval Base Ventura County and online. Popular majors among military students include business management, computer science, criminology, and kinesiology. The university provides comprehensive academic and career advising, tutoring, psychological and counseling, connection to local veterans’ resources to ensure a holistic education experience.

Since transition from the military to college, I’ve leaned on the campus resources like the Veterans Success Center and academic support services,” said Bryana Debora, a junior at the University of La Verne and a veteran. “The camaraderie I’ve found among fellow student veterans and supportive faculty has made a huge impact, helping me stay focused and motivated—all of which keeps me on track toward my goals.

In 2021, the Sara and Michael Abraham Center for Veteran Student Success was opened in La Verne to provide advocacy, engagement and assistance with Veterans Affairs and university paperwork. The center was recently upgraded to include additional spaces for the community to gather, network, study and rest.

The Military Friendly® company evaluates institutions based on public data and proprietary surveys, assessing student retention, graduation rates, job placement, loan repayment, persistence, and loan default rates for all students. Out of over 1,800 participating schools, the University of La Verne is one of 537 schools to achieve the gold award level this year.
