University of La Verne Joins Grow with Google’s HSI Career Readiness Program to train 200,000 Latino Students In Digital Skills by 2025

Today University of La Verne announced its participation in the Grow with Google HSI Career Readiness Program. The initiative will help Latino students at 35 Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs) prepare for the workforce through digital skills training and career workshops. Through a $2 million investment in the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU), the program will train 200,000 Latino students by 2025.

Beloved and highly influential Leopard baseball coach Ben Hines ’58, who guided our team to its first-ever national championships back in the 1970s, sadly passed away in 2021, while the pandemic was still raging. On April 9, the University of La Verne’s alumni community finally had an opportunity to publicly honor this Leo legend at a special event featuring a double-header game against California Lutheran University.

The University of La Verne will celebrate more than 2,400 graduates during Commencement ceremonies at Ortmayer Stadium on May 27 and 28. Graduates and their guests will hear from prominent commencement keynote speakers, student speakers, and esteemed university members.

University of La Verne Showcases Regional History at the LA County Fair

University of La Verne faculty and students will show their Leopard pride at the 2022 Los Angeles County Fair, which opens on May 5 and runs through Memorial Day weekend. The fair’s theme this year is “Back to our Roots,” which celebrates the 100th anniversary of the fair’s founding in 1922. Several university departments will have exhibits on display aligned with that theme.
