TV Students Win Two National Telly Awards
Two videos produced by University of La Verne students won Telly Awards in the recently concluded national competition.
“Day One,” a science fiction/horror film produced by Melanie Rodriguez, directed by Jeff Clarke and written by Matthew Martin-Hall was produced as a special project in Fall 2013. Assistant professor Jake Huberman advised the project.
“Young Adults,” a raunchy teen comedy, written, directed and co-produced by Anthony Troli and co-produced and shot by Kai Groschupf was also honored with a Telly. Professor of Communications Don Pollock advised this senior project in Spring 2013.
Both videos have garnered awards previously from the Broadcast Education Association, the Alliance for Community Media, and the Chaffey College Film Festival.
The Telly Awards was founded in 1978 to honor excellence in local, regional and cable TV commercials. Non-broadcast video and TV program categories were soon added. Today, the Telly is one of the most sought-after awards by industry leaders, from large international firms to local production companies and ad agencies. With the quality of non-broadcast productions, traditional local & cable television commercials and programming on the rise, along with the world of online video continuing to rapidly evolve, we are excited to see this year’s class of entries.
