President Meets with Taiwan Alumni Chapter

University of La Verne President Devorah Lieberman met with 20 members of the Taiwan Alumni Chapter in Taipei on June 5, part of a weeklong trip through Taiwan and China to strengthen the university’s international connections.

The alumni breakfast was also attended by a number of other University leaders, including Board of Trustees Secretary Susan Searing ’71 and Vice President of University Advancement Myra Garcia. It was a chance to cultivate engagement among international graduates.

“I am so pleased to be able to meet with the Taiwan Alumni Chapter and see their enthusiasm for being involved with the university,” Lieberman said.

The Taiwan chapter was established about a year ago so students from Taiwan who attended the University of La Verne could stay connected with each other and the University. There are approximately 1,100 alumni from Taiwan who earned their degrees from the main campus.

Lieberman also served as keynote speaker for the commencement ceremony at Shih Hsin University on June 3 in Taipei.

Her trip includes a stop in China where she had meetings scheduled to promote the University.

The University is working on developing additional overseas alumni chapters.
