Don Dunn Golf Tournament Raises $7,500 Toward Scholarships
Fifty-two people took to the green May 13 to raise money for scholarships benefiting College of Law students during the 8th annual Don Dunn Golf Tournament in Norco.
The event, presented by the Society of Legal Studies & Business at the University of La Verne, generated about $7,500 in donations. It was the largest net amount raised during the event, which also had the biggest turnout in a number of years, said University of La Verne College of Law Dean Gilbert A. Holmes.
“The tournament was extremely well run by the students and by the golf course,” Holmes said. “People are looking forward to next year.”
Scholarships will be awarded to law students pursuing Juris Doctor and Master of Public Administration or Juris Doctor and Master of Business Administration degrees.
The tournament, held at Hidden Valley Golf Club, honors Don Dunn, who served as College of Law Dean from 2003 to 2008. He was a nationally-recognized law librarian, who had been a member of the American Association of Law Libraries for 38 years.
He was an experienced American Bar Association site evaluator, having served on more than 40 site evaluation teams during his time at Western New England College School of Law.
