University of La Verne’s Online Bachelor’s Programs Highly Ranked by U.S. News

The University of La Verne’s online bachelor’s degree programs have been ranked second in California by U.S. News and World Report.

The publication’s 2017 Best Online Programs Rankings, released Jan. 10, place the university at No. 36 nationwide out of about 300 ranked universities.

“Many students live far from our campuses, have demanding personal and professional schedules, or travel frequently. Our online programs ensure that a quality college education is convenient and accessible to them,” University of La Verne President Devorah Lieberman said. “The University of La Verne is a leader in face-to-face learning, and has been a leader in online education for nearly two decades. These recent rankings reaffirm the academic excellence and stellar student service we provide.”

U.S. News collected data for the rankings in the summer and fall of 2016.

The publication ranked online programs based on four categories: student engagement, faculty credentials and training, student services and technology, and peer reputation.

“Students looking to improve their careers and lives know they can find challenging, engaging, and relevant curriculum in our online programs,” said David Smith, dean of Regional and Online Campuses. “We are pleased that U.S. News & World Report continues to highlight our efforts.”

The university’s online Master of Business Administration also received high rankings by U.S. News & World Report, placing sixth in California. U.S. News included 239 nationally-ranked universities in that list.

Methodology for the MBA rankings was similar to that for online bachelor’s programs, with an additional category for admissions selectivity.

First launched in 2000, the University of La Verne’s online programs help students receive a college education without the need of attending classes at a physical campus. The undergraduate programs include a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and Bachelor of Science degrees in Organizational Management and Public Administration.

Graduate programs include a Master of Business Administration, Master of Science in Leadership and Management, and a Master of Science in Child Development. Beyond the coursework, students receive support from university faculty and staff who are dedicated to online programs.

The University of La Verne’s online programs have also received high rankings from College Choice, which included the university in its list of the “10 Best Online Business Schools in California for 2017.”

That site analyzed data from a nationwide survey of college freshmen, who rated academic reputation, financial aid offerings, cost, and success on the job market. The information was combined with data from organizations such as U.S. News & World Report, the National Center for Education Statistics, and PayScale.com.
