Public Interest Law Foundation Auction Raises $8,000 for Students
Students hired for unpaid internships this summer will receive compensation thanks to the University of La Verne College of Law’s annual Public Interest Law Foundation (PILF) auction, which generated more than $8,000.
A dinner, comedy act, and auction took place at Campus Center on April 21. The law corporation Bristol & Haynes sponsored the dinner. The comedy act doubled as a Minimum Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) provider for lawyers who attended.
Faculty and staff donated many silent auction items, including meals, specially built keyboards, gourmet coffees, and golf foursomes with Dean Gilbert Holmes. Items also included reserved parking spaces for the upcoming semester. PILF Advisor and Professor of Law Diane Uchimiya sold handcrafted jewelry and donated the proceeds.
PILF scholarships help La Verne law students, but they also impact the larger community by providing summer help to worthy organizations that may not otherwise be able to afford it. To donate to PILF, please contact Sharilyn Berry at (909) 460-2024 or sberry@laverne.edu.
