SOAR Day 1

7:00am – 8:30am Check-In and Continental Breakfast
Enjoy some continental breakfast and pick up your lanyard and University of La Verne swag bag (while supplies last).
8:30am – 8:55am Welcome!
Our welcome ceremony will focus on a warm welcome from our Chief Student Affairs Officer and an introduction of our Orientation Week Leaders.
9:00am – 10:40am Meet Your Orientation Week Leader (Students only)
Students will have the opportunity to meet their Orientation Week Leader and get tips on how to thrive at the university. You will experience an activity with your Orientation Leader
9:00am – 9:45am Health & Wellness Session (Parents /Guests only)**
Campus partners will be sharing their services, such as Campus Safety, Counseling & Psychological Services, etc.
9:55am – 10:40am Academic Resources (Parents /Guests only)
This is an opportunity for you to gain more knowledge of the academic resources available at the University.
Housing & Residential Life(Parents /Guests only) **
Get the opportunity to meet the Housing & Residential Life and explore what it means for your student to live on-campus.
10:50am – 11:25pm Academic Advising, Course Registration Session**
Learn about the path to graduation, the academic calendar, and things to know as you prepare to register for classes.
11:30am-12:05am Financial Aid and Student Account Services**
This session will review financial aid process, types of financial aid and discuss payment options and alternatives.
12:05pm-1:05pm Lunch & Resource Fair
Enjoy a meal from the Spot Dining Hall and explore the different resources we have available at the University of La Verne.
1:15pm – 2:00pm Academic Readiness (Students Only)
This is an opportunity for each college to help prepare their students for their 1st year at the University.
Parent Coaching Session (Parents /Guests only)
This session will provide helpful information to parents regarding their student’s transition to the University. This session will also be provided in Spanish as well.
2:00pm- 2:45pm Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: I am La Verne (Students only)
One of our core values at the University is Diversity & Inclusivity. We will be exploring social identities and how you contribute to the diversity to our campus community.
Parent Social (Parents /Guests only)
Meet and mingle with other parents and staff.  * Last event for parents/guests.
2:55pm – 3:40pm Health & Wellness: Level Up Your Wellbeing (Students only)
Let’s get real about help seeking and self-advocacy in college. This interactive discussion will give you the tools needed for success throughout your college journey and beyond.
3:50pm – 4:35pm Housing & Residential Life (Students only)
This is an opportunity for students to explore what it means to live on campus in our residence halls.Commuter Life as a Leo (Students only)
This is an opportunity to gain some advice and tips from Orientation Leader to have a positive experience as a commuter.
4:35-5:00pm Getting the Most Out of your SOAR Experience (Students only)
5:00pm-6:00pm Dinner
6:00pm-11:00pm Social Activities

8:30am- 10:00am Engage & Breakfast
Enjoy some continental breakfast with our Orientation Week Leaders and get to know ways you can get involved on campus.
10:00am – 11:00am The C-Word: Consent
The C-Word: Consent is an educational, highly interactive, Title IX compliant program. This program uses a combination of audience interaction, improv exercises and thoroughly researched information to break down walls and have a frank, difficult, but needed conversation about bystander interaction, effective boundary setting, online behavior, and survivor resources.
11:00am-11:35am Getting Prepped for Success
Students will have the opportunity to learn about the Academic Success Center and what services and opportunities they have to offer.
11:40am-12:15pm Career Readiness 
The Career Center will present information on how to get connected to programs and service through Handshake, ULV’s online career platform and introduce an exciting spring semester kick off of #GETREADYULV, How to make the most of your ULV year experience.
12:15pm-12:30pm Closing Remarks
12:30pm-1:15pm Lunch
1:15pm-5:00pm Group Advising (Freshmen students)
The first group of students will begin the advising and registration for their Fall classes.
2:00pm Check-Out
Students will gather their items and check out from their room.
