University of La Verne Partners with Cerritos College to Increase College Access
The University of La Verne will guarantee admission to qualified students transferring from Cerritos College under an agreement signed by the colleges on Feb. 7.
University of La Verne President Devorah Lieberman and Jose Fierro, president and superintendent of the Cerritos Community College District, signed the agreement at Cerritos College.
“We are honored to give your students the opportunity to major in a mission in a way that will enhance their own lives, the lives of their families, and make this region better,” Lieberman said.
The agreement gives undergraduate students a $1,000 scholarship, waived application fees, access to admissions and academic advisors, and access to a designated financial aid advisor.
Students transferring to the university’s Campus Accelerated Program for Adults, as well as regional, and online programs, will also receive waived fees and advisors. They will receive tuition awards ranging from $300 to $1,200 depending on the program and whether students are full- or part time.
“We are very happy to continue to partner with the University of La Verne and obviously to formalize a long-term partnership,” Fierro said.
Cerritos College employees, spouses, and domestic partners are also eligible for scholarships through the agreement.
