Julissa Espinoza Named 2019-20 Scholar for the Western Region Campus Compact
Julissa Espinoza, the University of La Verne’s director of civic and community engagement, has been named a 2019-2020 representative in the Western Region Campus Compact (WRCC) Engaged Scholars Initiative (ESI).
Espinoza was one of 13 applicants out of a thousand selected to participate in the inaugural cohort.
“This is my first time participating and I couldn’t be more excited and proud to represent the University of La Verne,” Espinoza said.
The ESI develops, supports, and connects leaders from member institutions, such as the University of La Verne, who represent the Western Region Campus Compact. Institutions are responsible for advancing co-created knowledge, critically engaged pedagogies, models of institutional change, and collaborative action that addresses societal issues.
According to Espinoza, her participation in the cohort will help benefit the university’s advancement of its core value of civic and community engagement.
“It will also support the increasing dialogue and interest to engage among colleagues, community partners, and students,” Espinoza said.
