College of Law Teams Win Best Brief Awards at Moot Court Competitions

The University of La Verne’s College of Law won Best Brief in the ninth annual UCLA School of Law Cybersecurity Moot Court Competition that took place virtually on March 13. That same weekend, a second university team won Best Brief at the Hispanic National Bar Association’s 26th annual Uvaldo Herrera National Moot Court Competition, held remotely on March 12.

University of La Verne to Implement Calendar Realignment This Fall

Students will find it easier to cross-register between campuses and course delivery modes when the University of La Verne implements an academic calendar realignment beginning in fall 2021. In some programs, students may also be able to shorten their time to degree by enrolling in an extra session that the new academic calendar makes possible.

College of Law Celebrates Resilience of Spring 2020 Graduates

“You have chosen a sacred and honorable profession,” Kevin S. Marshall told 76 spring 2020 graduates at the University of La Verne College of Law’s virtual commencement live-streamed on January 30. Marshall is the Frank Lizarraga Endowed Dean of the College of Law.


La Verne Law Team Wins at Thomas Tang Moot Court Competition

Two students from the University of La Verne College of Law brought home awards from the western regional Thomas Tang Moot Court Competition, which was held online November 6. Miguel Caloca, JD ’21, and Herber Ramirez, JD ’20, represented the university at the competition and were coached by Dean McVay, adjunct professor and moot court competition advisor.


University of La Verne Endows College of Law Dean

Thanks to a significant gift from attorney and alumnus Frank J. Lizarraga, Jr. ’80, the University of La Verne has endowed its first dean. Lizarraga’s gift supports the dean of the College of Law, a position currently held by Kevin S. Marshall, JD, MPA, PhD. Effective immediately, Marshall assumes the title of the Frank Lizarraga Endowed Dean of the College of Law.
