Action Alert: HACU urges members to contact Congress for the passage of the BRIDGE Act for undocumented students
The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) is continuing to advocate for passage of the BRIDGE Act (Bar Removal of Individuals who Dream & Grow our Economy) Act, S.128 / H.R. 496. HACU is issuing this call to action to contact your members of Congress. If passed, the BRIDGE Act would provide temporary relief from deportation to the more than 752,000 individuals known as DREAMers and ensure employment authorization to those who are eligible for the Department of Homeland Security’s DACA program.
The HACU Advocacy Center online form will facilitate communication with members of Congress in your respective congressional districts and states to ask them to co-sponsor and support the BRIDGE Act. Additional information on the BRIDGE Act is available at HACU’s Advocacy Center.
Please also share this message among your university community including student organizations that can help to coordinate and secure participation from their peers. At the end of last year, the HACU Advocacy Center was launched as a tool to assist individuals to advocate for public policy issues including those impacting Hispanic-Serving Institutions.
