University of La Verne Gala Raises $907K Toward Student Scholarships
The University of La Verne raised $907,000 for student scholarships during its 2018 Scholarship Gala on March 24, an amount that surpassed all previous gala events.
More than 500 people, including dignitaries, students, faculty, staff, and alumni, gathered at the Sheraton Fairplex Conference Center in Pomona.
“The heart of this community is our students,” said University of La Verne President Devorah Lieberman. “They are the reason we are all here tonight. They are the reason our faculty members choose to teach at the University La Verne, why our staff members choose to provide support services, and why all of you choose to be a part of the University of La Verne.”
Lieberman announced the university’s $125 million comprehensive campaign at the event, unveiling what is the largest such initiative in the university’s 126-year history.
Create the Future: The Campaign for the University of La Verne will support student scholarships, new facilities, faculty teaching, and other key initiatives that will enable the university to elevate minds and inspire greatness for decades to come.
The university has already raised $82 million toward its goal. The funds will allow the university to move forward with construction of the Ludwick Center for Spirituality, Cultural Understanding and Community Engagement.
The funds have supported endowed scholarships, four academic and research centers, and three endowed faculty positions.
“These are your contributions and because of you, deserving students are able to attend our remarkable institution,” Lieberman said.
